Fall Beauty Trends ~ Target’s NP Set and Pixi Beauty Products #TargetStyle
Disclaimer: Que Means What received a set of NP/Pixie products from Target in exchange for this review. All opinions are my own.
Where do you put on your makeup? I often apply mine in the truck. Yes, y'all, I'm from Texas and I drive a truck! Safety first, I'm not driving the truck when I'm applying it. Here are tips on how I apply my makeup and a few Fall beauty trends from Target.
Fall Trend #1: A Bold Lip
Mujeres, try a new color for Fall. I'm trying the color of Marseilles from the Target NP Set Lipstick Line ($12). To best complete a bold lip, conceal the lines of your lip to even out the color; line it with a neutral lip liner and fill the lip with the bold lip color of your choice. For fairer skin tones try wine and burgundy; for medium skin tones try deep scarlet and cranberry; for deeper skin tones try mulberry and blackberry.
Tip: Dark colors can make the lips appear smaller, so for those women who want to remain on-trend without losing the voluptuous pout, simply dab some gloss on the center of the bottom lip to reflect light and give the appearance of fuller lips.
Fall Trend #2: A Smokey Eye
Target’s Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen Kit ($25) is a great beauty find – with four pens it’s easy and inexpensive to create a unique smoky eye to compliment your fall wardrobe. It is all about knowing your face, and the shades it would compliment.
- For Brown Eyes: Anthracite grey is a very easy shade to create a beautiful smoky eye. It works best as a base color to then enhance it with a real high definition color like teal, peacock blue, emerald and garnet.
- For Blue Eyes: A smoky bronze looks sophisticated and is very easy to wear, even as a foray into a darker smoky eye.
- For Green Eyes: Smoky purple also compliments most eye colors but particularly makes green eyes “pop.”
To get a smokey eye look: Apply a bright but neutral eye color at arch of your lid; a flesh eye color in middle of your lid and apply the bold eye color across your lid (I used Olive Green). Use the a slightly darker eye liner (I used Pixi's Sage Gold) to line your eye on top and on bottom. On top, use an even darker eye liner (I used Black Cocoa) closer to the lash line to create a darker to lighter effect from lash to lid. It's important to have a pointed end when lining the bottom to be accurate. Two coats of dark mascara will finish the look.
Tip: Apply another little bit of smoky shade on the outer corner of the eye for extra sassiness.
Fall Trend #3: A Flawless Complexion
The perfect canvas for fall fashion makeup calls for a neutral palette, which is flattering for most women and is not intimidating to work with. To start, use a quality primer. Primer really is the essential component in creating a perfect complexion. For that healthy glow, use a quarter-sized amount of NP Set Calming Pre-Foundation Primer ($29) that has ingredients like aloe, cucumber and peppermint extract to help reduce redness. It also smells so fresh! Using this primer helped cancel out any redness which meant using less concealer!
Apply your foundation as needed. I suggest applying it with a foundation brush for even distribution. Start in the middle of your face and work your way out. Blend, blend, blend it so that it is not noticeable where it begins and ends.
Finish up with a dusting of NP Set Pasarela Powder Foundation ($25.50) to set your make-up. It also helps control unwanted shine.
Tip: Customize your shade of concealer. Use a mix of additional flesh toned hues to correct under eye puffiness and other uneven areas. Give your complexion the healthy attention it deserves with a Pixi Perfection Palette ($28) that compartmentalizes into several tints to suit your eyes, cheeks and face.
Here's my updated Fall look! I dropped off the kids with my awesome husband and was headed out to a movie with a friend. I finished my look in the parking lot! What do you think?
