I've taken my family to two of these monthly brunches in San Antonio, TX for authentic regional Mexican food. They never diappoint.
The winner is in a for a real treat with this month's menu consisting of Chiles en Nogada. Due to the labor involved in its preparation, Cocina Heritage is only serving this delicious plate to pre-paid ticket holders.
Chiles en Nogada
A traditional dish from Puebla that is served in Mexico only during the months of July, August, and September. Chiles en Nogada is the traditional dish during Mexican Independence Celebrations.
Here is the full menu:
1st Course Copa de Fruta Fresca (México) Fresh watermelon, pineapple, and melon with wheat germs (or flaxseed meal upon requesst) and a touch of raw agave nectar and coffee.
2nd Course Huevos ahogados (México City Region) Eggs in a tomato based soup (made with organic tomatoes and eggs**) and freshly squeezed OJ.
3rd Course Citrus green salad Organic greens & mandarines garnished with the almighty good avocado oil.
4th Course Main Entreé – Choice of: Cochinita pibil (Mérida) Slow-roasted pork, marinated and wrapped in banana leaves. Served with white rice, black beans, and salsa Yucateca, a citrus-based sauce made with red onion and habaneros. Agua fresca de limón.**

Chile en nogada (Puebla) Chile poblano filled with an exquisite mix of ground beef, fruit, and spices topped with pomegranate seeds over a walnut and goat cheese sauce. It is the traditional dish of the Mexican independence month for its colors, red, white, and green. Agua fresca de limón. (Due to the amount of time needed to prepare this dish, chiles en nogada will be served only to pre-ordered and pre-purchased ticket holders.)
5th Course Gelatina Mexicana Floral, water based gelatin with almond and peach flavors. Coffee.
Cocina Heritage proudly uses Vital Farms organic eggs and Chicken. Drinks prepared early in the morning for freshness with organic oranges, limes, coffee, and raw brown sugar.
