And yes, I’m about to tell you how I attempted to tame my hair at a technology conference. This Latina geek wants great looking hair, tambien.
SXSW Interactive 2014 (#SXSWi – a conference for technology innovation) was a great experience. However, the weather was not. SXSWi occurs in Austin, TX which is only one hour from me in San Antonio. I attended various events for three days. Mostly, I went to the Latinos in Tech sessions. With the travel time each day, I had even less time to get ready and I knew I’d still want to look fresh all day long. So, I decided to give John Frieda’s Frizz Ease hair care products a try and let you see how they faired in this humid and rainy weather. That’s the real test, no?!
The first day I underestimated how much the weather would affect my hair. I applied muy poquito de hair product. No me gusta mucho producto en mi cabello. I’d say two pumps of the Frizz Ease 6 Effects Serum for all of my hair with a tad bit of Frizz Ease Curl Reviver Mousse (I thought I’d need it for volume not curl) and a light spray all over of the 3 Day Straight Flat Iron Spray. Here’s a selfie with my new and great friend Mari from Ya Sabe in the Samsung Blogger Lounge. Note: I straightened my hair that morning. *sigh*
I spent all day in and outdoors at various sessions and events like the Bloguer@s session at Latinos in Tech. Here I am again with Mari and a few more friends including Puro Pinche from San Antonio! We ran in to the Cottenelle Relaxation Station after getting caught in the rain. Note: my hair seemed to expand. No bueno.
Day Two. Ya, I learned my lesson and applied the product more liberally. No me gusta mucho producto pero no me gusta fotos feos más, jaja. I’d say I applied 3 pumps of the Frizz Ease 6 Effects Serum then, rub through one side of my hair and 3 more pumps for the other side. I also made sure to thoroughly spray the Frizz Ease 3 Day Straight Flat Iron Spray for additional support to keep my hair straight and frizz free. (15 pumps as the bottle suggests) I still used the Frizz Ease Mousse at the roots for volume. I know, it was a risk.
I met my friends Lori and Silvia bright and early for another day. I’m pretty happy with my hair, so far. Pero it is only 9 am in the photo below.
We went to one session about Latinas as the new leaders in Tech Innovation but spent most of the day outside walking to various mixers, meeting new friends and waiting in line for free food. Yes, lots of free food! You do a lot of walking at SXSW, too. The rain was off and on … at most, we got caught in bouts of drizzle.
By the end of the day we ended up at a MILK – a different Samsung hangout. Where we got to see all the cool Samsung products. Here we are just before we head home. I have to say that I’m still happy with my no frizz hair.
Day Three. I had the absolute pleasure of attending a live recording of Maria Hinojosa’s Latino USA on NPR. I wanted to take a real selfie with her but she had to rush out of the studio to catch a flight so this was the best I could get, haha! I’m in the front row using the double lens feature on my phone.
As far as the hair products, I didn’t wash my hair as the Frizz Ease 3 Day Straight Flat Iron Spray should create straight hair for up to 3 days. I simply brushed through it and quickly ran the flat iron through my hair again.
While there was no rain on the third day, it’s still a large order to have your hair looking good the whole day. The evening ended at El Hangout – a party for many Latino online influencers at SXSW. Before it turned in to a pachanga, we completed a focus group to give feedback about our experience at SXSW and what we’d like SXSW 2015 to look like for Latinos. Here I am with San Antonio friends Puro Pinche, Queen of Tacos and SA Town Get Down.
Those are the best shots I have of my hair that night. This is my life, queridos. I was having too much fun con todos mis amigos that I actually forgot to take my own selfies. Plus, the #PuroPincheSelfie station made up for all that!
I continue to use John Frieda’s Frizz Ease hair care products. In fact, I’ve even added Frizz Ease Nourishing Oil Elixir to the regime for additional shine. My tip: follow the directions on the bottles. My hair faired better when I followed the directions as opposed to just guessing.
Digame. ¿Qué piensen queridos? Do you think my hair stayed frizz free?
