A new shop has opened its doors in San Antonio. At 721 South St. Mary’s Street, you will find Ore & Timber – a quaint boutique that feels like a friend’s home. This friend has traveled the world and always returns with the coolest treasures. Now, you can shop for these same treasures for yourself or for gifts.
Owners Magaly Chocano and Tirso Sigg have traveled the world. Magaly hails from Madrid, Spain and Tirso from Mexico City. They have the sweetest love story of marrying only five months after meeting and they are currently raising their family in San Antonio’s King William District, the same cozy neighborhood where their new venture has opened.
I had the pleasure of working the these two business owners to organize a special blogger preview event. This boutique reminds me of an Instagram account that came to life! San Antonio bloggers showed up for a night of fun and shopping! When I went to visit Ore & Timber for the first time, I said to Magaly, “It’s like being able to shop in your home.” And it is. Many items have a story behind them.
Once these two chose to jump in to retail, they wanted to share some of their favorite pieces from different parts of the world with their customers. There are dishes from Amsterdam, keychains made from keys Tirso collected when the couple lived in a French village, quirky stationery, and even local artists’ items.
In addition to unique products, there is furniture that is made by Tirso. He’s been a furniture maker for years and now his work is available at Ore & Timber. Tirso also created all of the product shelving and some of the store lighting – Mason jar lamps that I could not live without. I took one home along with two other favorite pieces – one of those cool key chains and a wooden honey dipper.
