Tejanos! ¡Vamos a la sinfonía! Let’s go to the symphony for FIESTA POPS ~ Tejano style ~ to celebrate nuestra cultura with a spectacular musical performance. One lucky Que Means What reader will win a Family Four Pack. ¡Ajua!
Join the San Antonio Symphony for the festivities of our annual Fiesta POPS concert with Grammy award winner and Tejano sensation, Little Joe y La Familia. San Antonio Symphony Associate Conductor Akiko Fujimoto conducts this colorful performance featuring Little Joe y La Familia, the modern-day maverick mariachi group, Mariachi Campanas de America, and the visually stunning Guadalupe Dance Company in an exhilarating program of popular Tejano hits mixed with the traditional sounds of Mexican mariachi ballads and rancheras, along with delightfully performed ballet folklórico. The song list ranges from the heartfelt ‘Amor eterno’ to Moncayo’s ever-popular ‘Huapango’ to the laid-back sounds of ‘Te prometi’.
Tejano music, mariachis, folklórico dancing AND the symphony … ay! I’m dancing in my seat already. My family will be attending Fiesta POPS for the first time this year. Sure, we listen to Tejano music daily and my boys fall asleep to mariachi music playing on i Heart Radio but none of us have experienced a mix of music and celebration of cultura quite like this. Have I mentioned how much I love FIESTA?
