Part of my job as a parent is to expose my children to new things – new sports, new foods, new books, new characters, new games, etc. One new thing my son is not afraid to try is DANCING! He loves to dance and I’m pretty sure he gets it from me.
So, on mom & son date night, we thought it would be great to head to one of our favorite places in San Antonio – the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center for a special concert with M.I.S. Mexican Institute of Sound. While dancing is not new, the music genre is new to us. The fun beats of M.I.S. electronica sound and funky rhythms flow into songs that have emphasis on today’s Mexican culture. Wow, this band rocks! And, I kinda want their t-shirts now.
The crowd and energy were fantastic! M.I.S. had the group on their feet dancing and at the end of the night even brought the crowd on stage for a real pachanga. One of the reasons we are supporters of GCAC is because it is a place where the community really does come together. This concert was in part of a celebration of recently completed renovation of the patio of the center. GCAC is a great place to expose my family to new things in art, dance, music and Latino community.
As a mom, I admit that I was a bit nervous to take him to a concert. In the end, I had nothing to worry about and new memories to smile about!
