There’s Power in Coming Together and Learning from Each Other – Trinity University Women’s Leadership Summit

Disclaimer: I am receiving admission to the summit in exchange for this post. All opinions and fan-girling are my own.

As someone who is motivated to connect with leaders in my community and learn from others who have achieved success all over the country, I’m thrilled that this year’s Trinity University Women and Girls Summit is almost here! The Summit is an event and initiative to empower women and the community on issues that impact all of our lives. The lineup is packed with powerhouse women from all over the country and includes my Love Warrior crush Glennon Doyle Melton.

Last week, part of the summit’s organizing team shared a Facebook Live video to discuss behind the scenes information about what to expect and how the summit came into existence. Co-founder and organizer Trish DeBerry of The DeBerry Group said, “It stemmed around a conversation at Trinity University about female empowerment, mentorship, networking – kind of the soft skills side of what perhaps young graduates were looking for.” That conversation became about connecting women of all ages. The idea steamrolled into creating a conference with national speakers who could provide inspiration. Last year, the conference was headlined by Amy Cuddy and sold out.

“One of the biggest things that we heard from Trinity students and as we went out into the community was ‘Bring us together’ There’s a lot of power when we come together and learn from one another,” said Christy Banazek, Director of Human Resources at HEB, the presenting sponsor. Last year’s conference attendees reported back that they were able to connect with other women, learn a lot, and make lifelong friends.

In its second year, the Trinity University Women & Girls’ Leadership Summit has an exciting lineup for 2017. The program extends over three days with evening kickoff on Thursday, six compelling workshops on Friday, and a non-stop day of powerhouse speakers from all over the world on Saturday. Topics vary from inspiration, entrepreneurship, overcoming perfection, dealing with stress, and being successful.
