What makes your favorite places to eat your favorite places? For me, it’s a place that feels familiar and the food is fresh and delicious. One of our favorite places is San Antonio’s Taco Cabana. It opened as a small, neighborhood taqueria in San Antonio in 1978 and last week, I had the pleasure of hosting a preview event for one of my favorite groups of people – San Antonio Latino bloggers and influencers.
Have you noticed that your local Taco Cabana restaurant has gone through some changes? Now that the restaurants have been renovated, the kitchen is ready to introduce some new and exciting additions too! One of them is the new Taco Cabana Mexican hot sauce. The San Antonio Latino influencers had the opportunity to be some of the very first to it! It is made of of a unique blend of chile de arbol, guajillo peppers, fresh veggies and Mexican spices. I liked the tangy taste with a bit of heat. The new Mexican Hot Sauce is in restaurants NOW in San Antonio and will roll out to other markets in 2016.
We tried the hot sauce on various dishes. I tried the tamales for the first time and I quite enjoyed them. They are seasonal so get them while you can. But as Taco Cabana likes to keep things fresh, you can look forward to other seasonal dishes coming soon like Shrimp Tampico.
Hanging out with my fellow blogueras is always a great time. I get to hear about what people are accomplishing like mi amiga Teresa Garza who just published her first book! We even meet new friends like las chicas of 3 Slightly Chubby Latinas whose blog is coming soon! We celebrated with yummy margaritas including the Mango Margarita which took home Second Place at San Antonio’s Margarita Pour Off!
We were joined by the CEO of Taco Cabana, Todd Coerver and Taco Cabana’s Head Chef Andy Dismore. Each both shared exciting news about what’s coming to Taco Cabana. According to Chef Andy, Taco Cabana IS BACK! They are working hard at bring fresh, quality food to the masses. It’s one of the reasons I keep returning to TC. The price is great for a great meal. I’m looking forward to 2016!
NEWS ALERT – GET YOUR BREAKFAST TACOS ON DECEMBER 21st
Taco Cabana continues its #RandomActsofTacos initiative with a fundraiser at all San Antonio locations during breakfast hours on Dec. 21. For every breakfast taco dozen box sold, Taco Cabana will donate $1 to the Brighton Center, a local organization that provides educational and developmental support to families and children with disabilities.
