Star Wars Rogue One Movie Pass Giveaway – “a whole introduction to the franchise”

It’s finally here! I’ve been waiting all year for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

I can’t wait to share it with you, Queridos!

From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is rated: PG-13 and will be in theaters everywhere on December 16, 2016.

At the Rogue One press conference held on December 4, 2016 at Lucasfilm HQ the actors, producer Kathleen Kennedy and director Garret Edwards answered some burning questions. Everyone wants to know what to expect and how is this movie the same or different from the other Star Wars movies.

When asked if casual fans needed to revisit Star Wars to appreciate this, Kennedy responded, “This can be a whole introduction to the franchise. It really does stand on its own.” Personally, this part makes me excited. Believe it or not, I still have friends (and some family) who don’t understand or know what Star Wars is all about. This modern Star Wars movie can be a great starting point for newcomers.

The director of the movie, like many, has been a huge Star Wars fan for a very long time. When asked about the challenge of creating a new movie but still giving it a Star Wars feel, Edwards said, “We essentially got licensed to be different on this movie and take a risk. The great thing about being a stand alone film is we don’t really have to exist for the movies to continue. We could be brave and that’s what we did.”

He added that in terms of Star Wars, they were aiming for the Empire Strikes Back. In Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, there’s a lot of fun, humor and most importantly hope. It’s about trying to achieve something. The story really is about people who have very little in common and if they believe in a good future for the world, they can come together. The lesson being that we all live better when we work together than when we work alone.

Edwards did state that while he wouldn’t put words into George Lucas’s mouth, Edwards could die happy after hearing Lucas’s thoughts on the movie. And, of course, we agree that George Lucas is like god when it comes to Star Wars. Must be good, Queridos!
