Tips and Products to Help You Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle – Diabetes Awareness Month

I’m totally guilty of indulging in the pan dulce, tacos, pizza and cheeseburgers. Those are just a few of my favorite foods to eat. None of them are great for me if that’s all I have on a regular basis. Because diabetes runs in my family, I know I have to make changes in my diet if I don’t want my health to be at risk. But like so many other people giving up all my favorite foods is just overwhelming. So, small steps and small changes is what I can do to start making the right changes.

November is Diabetes Awareness Month. Here are a few tips and products to help you maintain a healthy lifestyle with your diet.

Cut The Sugar, Not The Fun

To avoid sugary sodas that can eventually lead to obesity and harm children’s oral health, try AQUABALL!
It is the FIRST zero-calorie, sugar-free and preservative-free children’s beverage currently on the market. I love it because it is naturally flavored water that’s available in four fruity flavors: Berry Frost, Fruit Punch, Grape & Strawberry Lemonade. My kids love it because it features their favorite characters like Marvel’s “Avengers” and Disney Classic Characters. AquaBall is sugar-free; a great source of Vitamins B3, B5, B6, and C; naturally flavored (no artificial flavors or colors); and 100% preservative-free.

Bored of water? I get bored of it quickly and I need the fizz. Parents on-the-go and kids can add a little flavor to their day with BROOKLYN ORGANICS, the sugar-free ginger ales gently sweetened with plant-based Stevia. The collection comes in 5 tropical flavors: Classic, Cola, Acai, Coconut & Guava. Plus, Brooklyn Organics are USDA Organic-certified, non-GMO, kosher, gluten free, caffeine free, vegan, and it has fizz!

Opt for Guilt-Free Snacking Throughout The Day

It’s not the easiest to resist temptation but GAEA OLIVE SNACK PACKS make it easier. Gaea olives are 100% natural and contain zero additives or preservatives and very low salinity. This has been an easy go-to snack for me because it’s in a convenient, resealable pouch with no liquid for mess-free snacking. Olives are a source of dietary fiber and copper, rich in vitamin E and contain mono-unsaturated fatty acids and polyphenols.

Love Food? Don’t Compromise Taste!

EXPLORE CUISINE is the perfect mealtime option that will satisfy an array of taste buds AND dietary needs. It’s a great option for when you crave your favorite pasta dishes. With a low-glycemic index, Explore Cuisine pastas are a great choice for those with diabetes
Explore Cuisine integrates beans, peas, lentils, and rice to provide you and your family nourishing meals which are easy, quick, colorful, and simply delicious! All Explore Cuisine products are vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO and jam packed with nutrients and loaded with plant-based protein.

Find What Works For You

Making your own healthy beverages at home is so simple. What can be a challenge is taking them with you and keeping them fresh. Try HUROM JUICE JARS which are air-tight and keep homemade juice fresh for days by keeping oxygen from reaching and degrading your juice.

When you can’t make your own food, sprinkle CARRINGTON FARMS Organic Milled Flax Seed on your yogurt, salads, cereal, oatmeal, smoothies, fruit, and other nutritious finished foods. It exceeds all standards of nutritious taste, freshness and purity. Carrington Farms unique proprietary Milling and Micro-Cleanse process assures only the finest Flax Seeds are thoroughly cleansed by natural means, and then surgically sliced, as opposed to pulverized, resulting in a delicious coarse flax seed grind that retains the maximum amount of healthy nutrients. NOTE: choose smaller portions of foods that are high in calories, fat, and sugar.

Of course exercise is a big part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. My favorite exercise routines consist of running, cycling, yoga, and hiking. For me, four times a week works best. Talk with your doctor about an exercise routine that’s right for you.
