Maybe we are all fireworks!

Since my birthday is on July 5th, I always told myself that the 4th of July fireworks were really to celebrate MY birthday! And I have since been fascinated with fireworks! I love to see them on holidays, at baseball games, in movies … anywhere! They make me happy.

I found this video on how fireworks work just because I wanted to know.

After watching it, I thought about how we can be like fireworks: a small shell full of explosives. When lit, we can produce something grand and beautiful! The product at times can be breathtaking. Others can see it from miles around. They take photos, they cheer, they Oooh and Ahhh! All for your time to light up the sky. This is what’s possible when you don’t give up on your purpose and dreams because YOU were ‘lit up’ or determined. Others will watch and ‘oooh and ahhh’ at all that you accomplish. What will seem like an instant to others, will be your time to light up the sky.

What happens if we don’t get lit up? What happens if we stop? The worst thing that could happen is we stay in that small shell with all those explosives inside.

“Most people live and die with their music still unplayed. They never dare to try.” – Mary Kay Ash (

In my house, we LOVE Katy Perry’s song “Firework”. In complete honesty, I didn’t know the words to the song before I looked them up for this blog post. We just loved the beat. Now, I love the song even more.

“Maybe you’re reason why all the doors are closed

So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road” (

So, if you are lucky enough to watch an amazing fireworks show this 4th of July, I challenge you to think about which fireworks are inside of you that you haven’t lit yet.

And then, go light your fireworks!

Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D

opens in theaters on July 5th.

It’s a story about someone who doesn’t

seem to be living with music unplayed!
