In case you’ve been hiding under a rock, you know that Disney’s MONSTERS UNIVERSITY is in the theaters this weekend, June 21, 2013.
If you watched Monsters, Inc., you are familiar with Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan. They are the best ‘scare’ team in the business. However, that wasn’t always the case. MONSTERS UNIVERSITY takes us back to their days in college.
Little Mike Wazowski has always dreamed of being the best ‘scarer’ and he has the smarts to learn how. Will that be enough though? Can a tiny green monster really be scary enough? James P. Sullivan, however, is more than enough. Scaring is in his blood. No one expects him to have to really ‘learn’ to be a ‘scarer’ because it just comes so naturally to him. It’s kind of the nerdy kid v. athletic jock type of story. If they are so different, how do they possibly become life-long friends?
Since we already know they do become best friends, it’s fun to see how their friendship develops in their college days. The movie is full of laughs with a campus backdrop and your regular collegiate characters: the fraternities and sororities, the misfits, cheerleaders, bookworms and tough professors … all in monster form.
My oldest son gives it two thumbs up!
“It was kinda scary but it was awesome!“
My youngest (three years old) didn’t stick around for the whole movie. With all the roaring and scaring, he grew a bit tired or scared and was happy to spend most of the time in the lobby. (Thank goodness for my husband to entertain him.)
