See What Unfolds When Your Kid Looses His Tooth

My five-year old recently lost two teeth within one week. He lost the first one at his abuela’s house while he was eating … and we never found the tooth. (yikes) He wasn’t upset though because he didn’t even know about the gifts of the Tooth Fairy. When the second one came out we were at home and he caught it in his hand. I thought he would be scared but he was excited.

He hollered, “Mamá, I can make a wish now!”

“A wish?” I wondered. What had he learned about the Tooth Fairy?

“I can put the tooth under my pillow and make a wish. The Tooth Fairy will take my tooth and add it to the castle she makes of ‘tooths’ and give me a wish!! I’m going to wish for The Avengers to come see me! Yay!” he exclaimed.

At that moment I knew he truly believed The Avengers would come see him. He loves superheroes, especial Marvel Comic superheroes. Initially, I wanted to correct him and tell him that’s not how the Tooth Fairy works. I wanted to tell him that he would find a dollar under his pillow the next day in exchange for the tooth.

However, my mind had already been on oral care since obviously he was losing his baby teeth and I knew I would have to get more aggressive with his oral care. The good people at Trident, have an informative Trident Oral Care website with information on how to use their products to take care of your teeth. The benefits of chewing sugarless gum after dinner was one key takeaway for us. It’s not hard to convince a five-year old to chew yummy gum after dinner.

My mind was racing about what to do with the tooth, how fast my baby was growing up and what to do next. That reminded me of Trident’s campaign to “See What Unfolds” when you let yourself get swept away in a little bit of fun. Trident. Ábrelo, a ver qué pasa. So, back to my son’s story, instead of correcting him. I agreed with him and encouraged him that The Avengers would come to see him. When he ran back to his room excited about what or who would come in the middle of the night, I began to panic. How was I going to make this happen?

When I told my husband about it, we came up with a plan. For the rest of the day I would talk to my son about how if The Avengers came, it would be a secret because they wouldn’t want the bad guys to know where he lived. Since The Avengers were so busy saving the world, they would only get to see him for a moment. So my husband bought a simple Captain America toy and left it out with a note from The Avengers apologizing for not being able to stay but they bad guys were at it again and they had to save the world. The toy was a gift for him from them.

I was nervous to see his reaction but it was a pleasant surprise when he was over-joyed about the toy and that he confirmed that they did come to see him. (Parents score!)

In the photo above my son is enjoying Trident Layers Sweet Cherry + Island Lime but the new Trident Layers flavors include a line up of unique blends including Layers Wild Strawberry + Tangy Citrus, Layers Peach + Mango, and Layers Juicy Berry + Tangy Tangerine.

Now, a ver que pasa with the rest of the teeth that are to follow coming out. I do know that this was crazy fun and we all ended up happy. I’m glad I didn’t take the path of what the Tooth Fairy was ‘supposed to do’.
