Time Warner Cable Offers Hispanic Heritage Collection On Demand

What’s your favorite movie? Okay, okay, I can’t even pick just ONE favorite but two of mine are Frida and Selena. Both are about women, one is a Mexican artist and the other is a Mexican-American Tejana vocalist. This is not a coincidence that they are mis favoritas.

Frida is a vibrant movie that tells the story of the life and art of the surrealist Mexican female artist, Frida Kahlo. It is full of drama, passion, music and spirit of her art. Frida’s life was full of heartache and passion and it all plays out in her marriage, work and life. Plus, Salma Hayek plays an amazing Frida.

Selena is a different story about the too young slain Tejano music artist, Selena Quintanilla. This movie is about her life in Texas and her rise to fame. It focuses more around the love of her family and the love story of her and her husband. And even though Jennifer Lopez is not a fellow Tejana, we love her in this movie. I could watch either of these peliculas any time, any day.

If you are a Time Warner Cable customer, there just a few more days to enjoy both of these movies and more influential Latino films, directors and actors including Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Amores Perros and Gael Garcia Bernal as Ché Guevara in The Motorcycle Diaries.
