San Antonio Symphony Fiesta POPS with Isabel Marie, Mariachi Campanas de America and a Special Tribute to Vicente Fernandez

Fiesta Pops Cover

It’s FIESTA time, San Antonio! There are many events that you can enjoy with your family and friends. A few years ago, our friends at the San Antonio Symphony invited us to our first FIESTA Pops concert. We were overjoyed to attend because it’s a celebration of culture like no other. How often can you hear a mix of Tejano music, Latino music and symphony music on the same stage? In San Antonio, it’s at least once a year!

Tickets start at $15! Tickets can be purchased at the Tobin Center Box Office by calling (210) 223-8624 or visiting tobincenter.org.  Fiesta medals will be available for purchase for $10 on site.

The San Antonio Symphony officially kicks off its Fiesta Pops weekend on Friday, April 15 at 6 p.m. with pre-event Fiesta activities at the Tobin Center River Walk Plaza. Activities include its inaugural Fiesta Medal Extravaganza encouraging locals to trade, sell or purchase Fiesta medals including the Symphony’s official 2016 Fiesta medal.

As well, there will be a special dance performance by the Guadalupe Academy and a performance by Mariachi Mujeres Divinas of Somerset, Texas, from 6 p.m.7:30 p.m.

At 8 p.m., the San Antonio Symphony will be presenting a FREE simulcast screening of Fiesta Pops featuring the music, dance and culture of Mexico and Latin American with local talents of San Antonio. Guests will see the live simulcast of the complete “Fiesta Pops” program, performed inside the H-E-B Performance Hall, on the 30-foot video wall of the River Walk Plaza.

Enjoy the beautiful sounds of Mariachi Campanas de America performing a special tribute to the great Vicente Fernandez and a mixture of some of your favorite Mariachi songs. The colorful corps of dancers from the Guadalupe Dance Company will grace the stage with an array of dances. Making a special guest appearance and debut at the Tobin Center will be 13-year-old singing sensation Isabel Marie Sanchez. Isabel is a protege of the (Selena) Quintanilla family and she recently released her debut album “New Girl In Town” from Q Zone records.
