My Outdoor Adventure Bucket List Texas Road Trip

One of the reasons that I’m so proud to be a Tejana is that our state has so many places to explore. I consider myself lucky to get to live in one of the most beautiful areas of Texas to explore – San Antonio, TX. And we do a lot of exploring around here. Pero what about the rest of the state?

Texas Road Trip with Chevy Traverse

Give me some gas money, the key fob to a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse, my favorite tacos y cafecito, and here are the outdoor adventure destinations I’d take my familia:

Palo Alto Canyon
Palo Alto Canyon is the second largest canyon in the country. Located in the Texas Panhandle, it has views for days. It can be explored by foot, mountain bike, horse or car with more than 30 miles of trails.

Big Thicket National Preserve
There are nine different ecosystems in the Big Thicket from longleaf pine forests to cypress-lined bayous. This would be ideal for adventurous hikes and fun paddling.

Guadalupe Mountains National Park
Guadalupe Peak is the highest natural point in Texas with an elevation of 8,751 feet (2,667 m) above sea level. The view must be amazing! The Guadalupe Mountains are also known for its bright-white Salt Basin Dunes, wildlife-rich grassland and fossilized reef mountains.

Amistad National Recreation Area
Located in Del Rio, TX, Lake Amistad is known as an oasis in the desert. The entire Amistad NRA area is underlain by 100 million year-old Cretaceous limestone. It’s a great place for camping, hiking, fishing and boating.

Big Bend National Park
From deserts, to rivers, to mountains, this place is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream. Plus, it’s so big, taking the scenic drive through the entire park is a must. There are plenty of hiking trails to enjoy, too.

Of all those I mentioned, we’ve only been to one – Big Bend National Park. However, for me, we didn’t stay near long enough and it’s worth multiple trips back.

All five of these places are in different corners of the state. Since Texas is big and is a unique shape, there are many corners and they are all far away from each other and from me. Driving all over Texas to visit each of the outdoor destinations would be my ultimate Outdoor Adventure Bucket List Texas Road Trip! Whether all at once or one at a time, I hope to check a few more off the list pronto.

Choosing the Chevrolet Traverse for My Outdoor Adventure Bucket List Texas Road Trip

Road trips are the best when you can drive a vehicle that provides a comfortable and smooth ride. Besides the fact that the 2018 Traverse can seat 7 passengers comfortably (with plenty of legroom), these are my other favorite features:

Engineering

The Chevrolet Traverse 9-speed transmission and V6 engine give you the power you need to safely pass others on two-lane roads. This really is my favorite thing about the Traverse. Its engineering makes all the difference for a smooth drive.

Connectivity

Long hours on the road are better with 4G LTE WiFi and USB charging in all three rows for everyone’s mobile devices. Also, with the myChevrolet app, you can send remote vehicle commands and check on the vehicle’s diagnostics.

Convenience

All of these outdoor adventures would require some equipment. The 2018 Chevrolet Traverse has a best-in-class 98.2 cu. ft. maximum cargo space. The power fold 3rd row and hands free power liftgate allows for easy storage.

Heated Steering Wheel and Seats

Texas weather can change in the blink of an eye. Whether it’s hot or cold, these features will help keep everyone comfortable. The front seats are both heated and ventilated – most important for to keep the driver comfortable. The second row seats are heated.
