Family Time Now Project is a Lesson in Being Open to New Possibilities

When I signed up for the coLAB project over the summer, I did it to challenge myself to grow. This project was developed by the organizers of three blogging communities – Latina Bloggers Connect, Alt Summit and Blogalicious – to push us bloggers out of our comfort zone and create our own project with another blogger from a different community. This project turned out to be a winner in more ways than one.

Family Time Now coLAB Project Recap

I was blessed to be partnered with Teri Waters from MommyWifeLife.com The clear common denominator between us is family. That’s why we created the #FamilyTimeNow Project. We wanted a peek into how families spent everyday moments together. And you let us in! Thank you!

We randomly chose a winner from all of the entries. I’m happy to share that local San Antonio blogger and friend Mandy K. is our winner of the $50 VISA gift card. Check out her #FamilyTimeNow entry below. So cute! Congratulations, Mandy!

Throughout the process, Teri and I spoke several times over Google hangouts, by phone and a lot through email. Teri is an amazing mom, blogger and project partner. I feel as if we complimented one another and that is key when working successfully on a project. Teri’s strong points are organization and follow up. I’m more of the cheerleader. So, she kept me on track and I made, er, encouraged her to get on Periscope for the first time. Thanks so much, Teri! I’ve gained a new friend. Plus, we get to meet in person at Blogalicious 2015 in Baltimore!

On top of the new friendship, giving away $50 VISA gift card to a great family and an overall growing experience, WE WON THE A BIG PRIZE! We were focused on the family time project, I don’t think we even mentioned the prize that was a possibility for Teri and me. However, we won! Two coLAB projects were chosen and the creators of those projects won tickets to learning blog conferences – in our case, We All Grow Summit and Blogalicious! Our #FamilyTimeNow Project is a winner in more ways than one.

Queridos, my biggest lesson in all of this is to be open to new possibilities. Look at what I would have lost out on if I had not signed up for the coLAB Project – self growth, a new friend, sharing positive family time messages, awarding another family with a prize and tickets to get to learn how to improve about what I already love to do – blogging. Don’t miss out on your own prizes in life.
