15 Days of Hispanic Heritage Photo Challenge #HHM15foto

It’s Hispanic Heritage Month, queridos! While we live our culture every day, this month is a time for a spotlight on our heritage. As the U.S. Hispanic population continues to grow, businesses and marketers are taking notice. Adage recently published the Your Guide to the Multicultural Mainstream acknowledging that “the new multicultural mainstream impacts entertainment, ads, food, sports … and everything. The marketer’s challenge is getting it right.”

According to U.S. Census Bureau population estimates, there are roughly 54 million Hispanics living in the United States, representing approximately 17% of the U.S. total population. This U.S. Hispanic population is estimated to reach 128.8 million or approximately 31% of the U.S. population by 2060. That’s a lot of Latinos – Who will be telling their stories?

So, let’s take notice and share our own stories. In our digital age, when we can share our own stories, culture, and heritage with the press of one button, it’s our responsibility to do so. I’ve teamed up with The Nueva Latina, Austin-based Latina lifestyle blogger, for the 15 Days of Hispanic Heritage Photo Challenge! YOU are invited to share your photo story of 15 days of Hispanic heritage!

Among Hispanic subgroups, in 2012, Mexicans ranked as the largest at 64%. Following Mexicans were Puerto Ricans (9.4%), Salvadorans (3.8%), Cubans (3.7%), Dominicans (3.1%), Guatemalans (2.3%),and the remaining 13.7% were people of other Hispanic or Latino origins. We get it, queridos, today’s Latinos are as diverse as they come. This month and photo challenge is about celebrating ALL of us!
